Harvesting Water Passively by Using the
Principles of Permaculture.
| |
There is no need
for water pumps and energy when water can be harvested passively the
Permaculture Way as Geoff Lawton teaches it to us.
We can apply these principles on a
micro scale or a macro scale. It doesn't matter. We just have to do it.
Geoff Lawton
Geoff Lawton consults to build a dam and
swale system on a client's small acre farm. It's like being there with him. We see
problems arise and witness the solutions that Geoff devises to maximize 100%
water retention on the property--what we all need as water supplies go down
and water costs go up..
You will learn and understand many
advanced concepts:
- Inspecting at the site with Geoff
- Surveying with different instruments
- Understanding contours and problem areas
- Planning the site using laser and dumpy
levels
- Connecting swales to maximize Water
Harvesting
- Briefing excavator drivers and what to
look for
- Clearing the site, subsoils and problem
areas
- Establishing the dam keyways, waterline
level and freeboard
- Building the dam and how not to collapse
it
- Spillways and diversion channels
- and much more
Bonus Extras:
Earthworks around the globe. The techniques
you will learn are applicable to many environments around the world.
